Spotlight on Special Ed: Survey of Parents & Guardians of Students with Disabilities
Dear Parents/Guardians,
All students deserve access to a quality education. From my experience as a parent, we often know what is best for our kids and understand what educational programs our children need. This especially holds true for parents of children with disabilities.
While the New York City Department of Education has made great strides to improve upon the educational services provided to students with disabilities, there is still a lot of work to be done and there is no better way to get a sense of these issues than by speaking directly to parents.
I would like to hear about the issues that your family confronts daily and I am curious about your ideas for improving our schools. It is my hope that the insights provided through this survey will enable my office to develop clear recommendations to guide the new positive reforms at the Department of Education.
Thank you for taking this survey and I look forward to working with you to better our city’s schools.
Sincerely,
Bill de Blasio
