In 2005, Wal-Mart launched its "sustainability program," a marketing campaign aimed at positioning the company as a leader on corporate environmental responsibility.  Meanwhile, Wal-Mart has continued to provide support the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a leader in the fight to roll-back the regulation of greenhouse gas emissions and cut funding for the Environmental Protection Agency.  Companies such as Apple, Exelon and PG&E withdrew their memberships from the Chamber because of disagreements over these issues.
