The Public Advocate’s office is dedicated to protecting the rights and needs of consumers and exposing predatory, deceitful or negligent business practices that take advantage of New Yorkers.

The Public Advocate’s office has worked to expose bad landlords and protect tenant services, system wide lapses in subway security and government contractors that are not providing quality service.

Current Campaigns:

For far too many of our City’s tenants, winter means struggling to keep their apartments and their families warm because their landlords failed to provide heat and hot water as required by law.

To assist New Yorkers with property management issues that may arise in their apartment buildings, condos or co-ops, Public Advocate de Blasio established a hotline and compiled a webpage of local government resources.
