We cannot continue to drive crime down without repairing the divide between police and communities. We have waited years for reforms that would address the injustice of these arrests. Thankfully Governor Cuomo has stepped in. His legislation will reduce one of the most damaging consequences of the City’s overuse of stop and frisk tactics. For thousands of young people, this means one less obstacle to work, education and a chance to build a better life. I urge the swift passage of the Governor’s legislation.
