“My prayers are with Wisconsin’s Sikh community and with ours here in New York as they weather this terrible tragedy. This was an act of naked hatred meant to isolate and victimize the Sikh community. But just as we stood with our Sikh neighbors facing prejudice and violence after the 9/11 attacks, we stand shoulder to shoulder with them now. We must take whatever precautions are required to protect our Sikh neighbors here in New York City.”
