“The men and women who led the rescue and recovery effort made incredible sacrifices so that no one would be left behind. Eleven years later, we are finally living up to that same creed. Including cancer under the Zadroga Act is our moral responsibility as a city and a nation. We would not have reached this milestone without the tireless advocacy of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association and all those who fought on behalf of the men and women who served in the aftermath of September 11th.”

Earlier this year, Public Advocate de Blasio joined law enforcement advocates to successfully pressure the City to turn over data that could link Ground Zero exposure and cancer.
