Ms. Bouchard speaks to children with love even when she is helping them to resolve conflict. She recognizes their individual needs, which is only possible with a small class size, and teaches to their strengths, which could never be recognized through test scores.

Ms Lisa Chow in K110 at PS41 has not just taught 22 kids to read and write, she has also sowed the seed of loving learning in all these kindergartners which will last a lifetime. She inspires the kids with her warmth, love and enthusiasm.

Great teachers are building blocks of great Society. They become greater when they act as half parents as well.

Knowingly or unknowingly, every such teacher inculcates the values, an urge to learn & succeed, a zeal to create better world and environs around ourselves.

Guidance and support provided by Great teachers like Mrs. Rina Walter, Mrs. Nina Amato, Mrs. Felice Clyne, Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Taylor (Since retired), Mrs Solomon, Mrs Mofatt, Mrs Mastrantones, Mrs Isaac, Mrs. Demillio and others at PS165Q have been so valuable to my children that it reflects in each and every field they take part in and excel.

I salute to such teachers and wish every student is blessed with such great teachers !!!

In the three years my children have attended PS 144 every one of their teachers has been outstanding. Each one has a special passion they bring to the standard curriculum: art, animals, writing, music, and theater are a few examples.

However, I have already seen the negative effects of large class size due to limited monetary resources. Currently, there are 28 students in my daughter's first grade class. With fewer teachers, not only will students lose exposure to the unique passions these teachers bring into the classroom, but they will lose out on traditional learning as well with more time spent on issues due to overcrowding.

It is not fair to our students or our teachers to increase the number of students in a class.

Christine Han is an excellent teacher. Not only is she a Master's level professional, but she is well equipped and trained and really connects with the students. She finds ways to help them learn as she uses their interests and exploring the science, math, and other learning points within those topics to make math and science fun!

She is worth more than you could ever pay, and the students need teacher's time and attention to help instill the love of learning.

Everyone knows that smaller class sizes improves the environment for learning and success for our children, more than the costs of testing, technology or even sending in specialists from the outside to try to help less teachers do the job with crowded classrooms.

The essay below was a regional finalist (top ten in the tristate area) in the “My Favorite Teacher” contest. I think it is a testament to the great education my daughter is receiving at PS 10.

My name is Sophia. I am in first grade at P.S. 10 in Brooklyn. My teachers are Ms. Lindley and Ms. Buntley.

On every Monday, I have choice time, and I really like big books. On every Friday, we have treasure chest which is a cardboard treasure chest which has toys in it. We have name tags and if you get 10 points, you get to go in the treasure chest on Friday.

I like Ms. Buntley. When I asked if I could try Berenstain Bear books, she said yes! She teaches us math. The way she reaches makes math fun. I like the game Top It the best.

I like Ms. Lindley. I like it when Ms. Lindley holds my hand when we walk down the stairs. It makes me feel happy. I like when we play Hangman. It’s fun and we learn to spell, two good things. She reads fun books like American Girls and Boxcar Children. Chapter books. She made us diaries to write in. All she did was fold paper in a book shape and stapled it. You can draw in them.

When they are together, we have a lot of fun.

Caitlin Farrell is that kind of teacher who could and does change kids' lives. Our daughter had her for two years and now our son has had her for 2nd and now 3rd grade at PS3. Our two kids are as different as they can be and she has been a wonderful teacher to each of them. She is dedicated, affectionate, hard-working, fun, smart and somehow knows how to keep control of the whole high-spirited class. She figures out what special talent each child holds inside and helps that child really blossom in that area.

Not only has she been amazing with our kids, I have seen her coax -- with constant support, not humiliation -- the most shy and timid kids, and non-English speaking kids, to open up and speak in front of the whole class and parents by the end of the year with ease. She builds their confidence in the most lovely and loving way. This is the mark of a truly great teacher and I cannot imagine PS3 without her.

We are so lucky to have her as a teacher in the first place. She is underpaid, has a class that is too large, and works without the supplies she really needs and does it with grace and a smile. Her job should be valued and respected, not subject to layoffs!!

We must stop this terrible misuse of our societal resources now!

Ms. Lombardi is OUTSTANDING. She has taken on a Gifted and Talented Kindergarten-1st grade class, and even though she keeps track of about 4 different ability levels and assignments in reading and math, I have never seen her not smiling.

She is smart, warm, kind, understanding, etc. She always writes extensive, considered responses to my questions. She is a gem. She took over this year when Mrs. Conti went on maternity leave to have twins. Mrs. Conti is also an exceptional, smart teacher.

We also love Mrs. Jensen and her assistant Ms. Audrey last year, who taught my daughter's pre-K class. Mrs. Jensen is an incredibly sunny and energetic teacher. She and Ms. Audrey warmly nurtured our daughter and helped her develop into the strong reader she is now (reading at a nearly 5th grade level as a kindergarten kid).

Mr. Seidner (the music teacher) is tremendous. He has my daughter's class playing keyboards with two hands (in kindergarten). He has a great sense of humor and is doing a lot of hard, dedicated work to establish a band program in the upper elementary grades--the only band program in our neighborhoods, I believe. Ms. Conway is also a terrific, warm Spanish teacher.

KEEP THESE TEACHERS AND THE REST OF THE P.S. 132 TEACHERS AND STAFF!
