"Throughout the last several months, I’ve made clear that New Yorkers deserve a budget that is economically just and fiscally responsible. While the final state budget is not yet adopted, I commend the Mayor, Governor, and legislative leaders for working to address the budget gap left by the last administration’s mismanagement, through a combination of revenue raising from the wealthy, savings, and aid measures.
"The executive budget unveiled today reflects that work, and maintains strong city services. Moving forward in the process of crafting a final city budget for FY27, we cannot ignore our responsibility to both shore up our future and create a more equitable economy in the long term. That has to include more of the measures I’ve outlined, which like the pied-á-terre tax, center the civic responsibility of the wealthiest New Yorkers to pay an equitable share.
"As we work with the mayor, the Council, and our governing partners to finalize a city budget, I urge New Yorkers to craft their own with my office’s Build-a-Budget tool and make their voices heard."
